About Us
Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale is a renowned and iconic Indian sweets and snacks brand based in Pune, Maharashtra. It is especially famous for its authentic Maharashtrian delicacies, including the legendary Bakarwadi, which has become a household name across India and among Indian communities abroad.
Brief History
Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale is part of the larger Chitale Group, which was founded in 1939 by Bhausaheb Chitale in Bhilawadi, a small village in Sangli district. Initially focused on dairy products like milk and ghee, the Chitale Group gradually diversified its operations.
The sweets and snacks division, Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale, was established in 1950s by Bhausaheb’s sons, Raghunathrao (Bhausaheb) and Narsinha Chitale. They set up the shop in Pune and began producing traditional mithai and farsan (snacks), bringing a new level of consistency and innovation to the field.
Signature Products
Bakarwadi: A spicy, crispy roll made from gram flour and stuffed with a tangy, sweet-spicy mixture. It is deep-fried to perfection and has become the brand’s flagship product.
Moti Choor Ladoo, Kaju Katli, and Pedha: Among the many sweets they are known for, these traditional Indian sweets are bestsellers during festivals.
Namkeen & Farsan: Items like chiwda, sev, and chakli are also widely loved and are part of their extensive snack range.
Why It Stands Out
Hygiene & Quality: Chitale Bandhu was one of the first Indian mithai brands to implement semi-automated production processes, ensuring consistency and cleanliness.
Packaging & Shelf Life: They revolutionized the way Indian snacks are packaged, especially with Bakarwadi, making it suitable for long-distance transport and exports.
